FAQ
GENERAL LUBRICANT KNOWLEDGE
Viscosity is a measure of an oil’s thickness and flow at a given temperature. It determines how well the oil can form a protective film between moving parts. Oils that are too thin may not protect under high loads, while oils that are too thick can increase friction and reduce efficiency.
The first number with “W” (winter) indicates the oil’s flow at low temperatures, ensuring easy starting in cold conditions. The second number indicates viscosity at operating temperature, which affects protection under heat and load.
Lubricants contain additives that suspend contaminants and neutralize acids. Properly formulated oils reduce sludge, varnish, and other deposits that can block passages, reduce efficiency, and accelerate wear.
Oxidation occurs when oil reacts with oxygen at high temperatures, causing thickening, acidity, and sludge formation. Thermal breakdown happens when the oil’s molecular structure degrades under heat, reducing its protective ability. High-quality base oils and additives help resist these effects.
Wet stacking is the accumulation of unburned fuel and soot in diesel engines running at low load for extended periods. Oils with strong dispersant and detergent properties help keep soot suspended and prevent buildup on engine parts.
Thinner oils at operating temperature can reduce internal friction, improving fuel economy. However, viscosity must still be sufficient to maintain a protective film on critical engine components.
- Mineral oils are refined from crude petroleum; may require more frequent changes and are generally not suitable for most modern engines.
- Synthetic oils while still derived from crude petroleum, this type of lubricants are engineered for higher stability and better performance under extreme temperatures and stress.
- Bio-based or plant-based oils are derived from renewable resources,
offering superior thermal stability, reduced environmental impact, and in Evolve’s case, better lubricating properties than synthetic products.
Using oil with the wrong viscosity, insufficient additive protection, or low-quality base oil can result in metal-to-metal contact, accelerated wear, overheating, sludge formation, and even catastrophic failure over time.
PERFORMANCE & PROTECTION
Evolve lubricants use a unique, patent-pending formulation built on plant-based base oil, combined with high-performance additives to protect engines and machinery from wear, corrosion, and deposits. Our formulation enhances overall lubrication performance, ensuring reliable operation under all conditions.
Our formulation forms a strong protective film on moving parts, reducing metal-to-metal contact and preventing scuffing. It improves thermal stability, friction reduction, and service life, ensuring optimal protection across all applications.
Yes. Evolve lubricant’s thermal breakdown and oxidation resistance is only comparable to the best in the market, maintains optimal viscosity and protection especially under extreme heat and heavy loads.
By reducing friction and wear, Evolve Lubricants help improve energy efficiency, maintain consistent performance, and reduce unplanned downtime, contributing to smoother operation and better mechanical efficiency.
